Pair of Chinese Porcelain Lion Dogs, circa 1830, Daoguang Period

A fine pair of Chinese porcelain Fo dogs, circa 1830, Daoguang Period. Both iron red enameled recumbent dogs wearing tunics, finely painted with flowering plants, in famille rose enamels, upon a spotted ground. They both support a sconce upon their backs, painted with flowers, above a lappet motif, and edged in gilt.
Unglazed bases.
The quality of this pair of figures is vastly superior to the more typically found later models of similar dogs.

Depth 8.3 cm, 3 1/4”.
Condition - Repair to minor chips on the sconces. Otherwise in excellent condition.
