Hirado Porcelain Vase, Japanese, Meiji Period, 1868 -1912

A fine Hirado porcelain vase, Japanese, c. 1870. Meiji Period. Painted in underglaze blue, to the front, with a scholar, contemplating life, whilst stood beneath a large pine tree. The reverse with a young boy attendant holding a fan.
Either side of the waisted vase, applied with finely modelled twin dragon handles.
The base, with a firing fault, unglazed.
Height - 24.2 cm, 9 1/2”.
Width - 18.3 cm, 7 1/4”.
Condition - Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
