Sunderland creamware lustre jug 'West View of the Iron Bridge...'


A fine and large Sunderland lustre creamware jug, c. 1800. Printed and hand painted, beneath the spout, with 'A View of the Iron Bridge at Sunderland.Built R. Burdon, Esq. MP. Span 236 feet. Height 100 feet. Began AD 1793. Opend 9 Aug 1796.'
The sides with a print of 'The Mariners Compass', and a sailors rhyme.
All within bands of pink lustre, and having a simple loop handle.
Height - 24.5 cm, 9 5/8".
Width - 29 cm, 11 5/8".
Condition - Two small chips to the spout - please see images for details. Otherwise in perfect condition. No restoration.
