Staffordshire pottery figure Dr Syntax playing the violin, c. 1830.


A rare Staffordshire pottery pearlware figure, c. 1830. Modelled as Dr Syntax dressed in black, and playing the violin. He also wears a tricorn hat, and stands against a tree stump, upon a yellow ground square base, with canted corners.
Height - 15 cm, 5 7/8”.
Width - 7 cm, 2 6/8”.
Condition - Repair to end of violin. Re touching to the black enamel on the back of his coat. Otherwise perfect.
