Staffordshire pottery figure ‘Welsh Shepherds’, c. 1860.

Staffordshire pottery spill vase group, c. 1860. Modelled as the ‘Welsh Shepherds, the young shepherd and shepherdess, stood before a tree, that forms the spill vase, with sheep resting to either side. Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, and overglaze enamels. Titled to the base in raised capitals, ‘Welsh Shepherds’, and heightened in gilt.
Height - 35 cm, 13 3/4”.
Condition - Perfect. No damage. No restoration.

Medium: Earthenware.

Signed/Inscribed: Titled ‘WELSH SHEPHERDS’, in raised capitals.
