Rare Chinese melon shaped porcelain teapot, Qianlong Period c. 1740.


A rare Chinese porcelain teapot, c.1740, Qianlong Period. The moulded melon shaped teapot, set upon a lobed foot rim, and painted in underglaze blue, with a continuous scene of a ladies carrying baskets of fish, accompanied by a young boy, and one lady carrying a baby., beneath a cloud scroll. A boat is moored beneath a a willow tree.
Height - 13 cm, 5 1/8".
Condition - Firing cracks with extended cracks to the rim of the teapot. Repair to chip to rim of cover. Please see images for detail.
