Meissen porcelain group of musicians.


A fine Meissen porcelain group, c. 1860. Beautifully modelled as a couple playing music, and wearing 18th Century costume. Between them lies a pug dog, upon an elaborate rococo style settee, moulded with scrolls, shells, masks, and pierced lattice work. The attention to detail is exceptional - the gentleman so tricorn hat almost hidden behind him on the settee for example - and the painting of the costume being of the highest quality.
Underglaze blue crossed swords mark and incised 'W56' & '77' to the base.
Length - 23.4 cm, 9 2/8".
Height - 15 cm, 5 7/8".
Condition - Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
