Meissen porcelain group of gardeners.


A fine Meissen porcelain group, c. 1860. This substantial group is modelled as a love scene of a young male and female gardeners, wearing 18th Century dress. She holds a watering can, and a small spray of flowers, whilst he caresses her, with a spade at his side, along with a basket of freshly picked flowers. A younger boy seeks attention, whilst carrying a smaller basket of flowers. Their costumes beautifully painted with exquisite detail, and heightened with gilding. All set upon a grass mound base, above a gilt line.
Underglaze blue crossed swords mark to the base, and numbers.
Height - 25.5 cm, 10".
Condition - Large basket lacking handles. Chips to some leaves - please see images for details. Otherwise in excellent condition. No restoration.
