Japanese onlaid bronze vase. Birds & insects amongst flowering plants. Meiji Period.

A good and large Japanese bronze vase, Meiji Period, 1868 -1912. The vase carved and both inlaid and onlaid in various metal alloys, namely, gold, silver, shakudo, and shibuichi, with an intricate scene of a large bird perched in a flowering tree, above which a butterfly flies. The neck inlaid with a continuous stylised floral motif, and band of lappet adorn the footrim.
Height - 36 cm, 14 2/8".
Condition - Excellent. No repairs.
