Japanese mixed metal paper knife. Meiji Period.

A Japanese mixed metal paper knife, Meiji Period (1868-1912). The handle wonderfully, and ingeniously cast in bronze as a cluster of fish and crustacea, patinated in various mixed metal alloys, attached to the blade by a silvered shell, cast with a gilt crab, and starfish. The silvered blade, engraved with a gilt, sinuous dragon, emerging through both sides, amongst crashing waves.
Length - 36 cm, 14 1/8”.
Condition - Excellent. No damage.No repairs.
