Japanese Imperial Satsuma koro. Meiji Period.


A good Japanese, Imoerial Satsuma koro and silver cover, c.1880. Meiji Period. Boldly decorated in typical enamel colours, with a continuous band of flowering plants and screens. The rim, with a broad band of flowerheads, above gilt scrollwork. Standing upon three moulded bracket feet, again decorated with flowerheads.
Painted iron red Mon and signature to the base.
Having original silvered cover, with flowerhead finial.

Medium: Earthenware.

Signed/Inscribed: Iron red Mo, and signature to the base.

Height:  14.50 cm, 5.71"

Condition: Some typical wear to the gilding. Otherwise in perfect condition. No damage. No restoration.
