Japanese bronze okimono. Elephant & tigers. Genryusai Seiya. Meiji Period.

A good, large Japanese bronze okimono, by Genryusai Seiya, Meiji Period 1868-1912. Well cast as an elephant fighting with two tigers. The casting of the elephants skin being particularly well defined.
Signed Genryusai Seiya to the underside.
Height - 26 cm, 10 1/4".
Length - 41cm, 16 1/8".
Condition - Excellent. No damage. No repair.

The ivory content of this item was created in the late 19th Century, at a time when there was no thought of slaughtering elephants on the scale that the second half of the 20th Century witnessed.
I utterly condemn the trade in modern ivory, and would never be party to such activity.
