Japanese Arita porcelain bowl.


A Japanese Arita porcelain bowl, c. 1700. Painted to the exterior with a continuous scene of lowering plantation in overglaze enamels, issuing from underglaze blue rockwork. Standing upon a short foot rim, decorated with concentric bands in underglaze blue.
The interior with a continuous band of iron red whorll decoration, and a single flower head to the centre.
Retrospective four character Chenghua mark to the base, in underglaze blue.
Height - 5.5 cm, 2 1/8".
Diameter - 10cm, 4".
Condition - Small chip to foot rim, some typical wear to the overglaze enamels - please see images for details. Otherwise perfect. No restoration.
