Japanese Arita porcelain. A large 'Imari' pattern koro & cover. Meiji Period.


A fine and large Japanese Arita porcelain koro and cover, Meiji Period (1868 - 1912). The globular body well painted in Imari style, with two large panels of Phoenix flying over flowering plants, amongst rock work and a fence, upon a brocade ground, of panels decorated with various motifs. Having Mythical beast handles. The cover similarly decorated, and having a finial modelled as a cockerel and a hen, in an interesting position....
Height - 13", 33 cm.
Diameter - 13 1/4", 33.6 cm.
Condition - Perfect. No damage. No restoration.
