German Ivory Tankard - Young Bacchus on a goat

A German Ivory tankard, c.1840. Finely carved to the body, with the young Bacchus riding a goat, with a procession of Putti playing musical instruments, before a temple and trees. Set upon a base deeply carved with scrolls, which are replicated upon a cover, surmounted with a quatre scroll finial. The scroll handle, carved with a further Putti.

Condition: Cracks to the handle. Otherwise in perfect condition.
