English Mocha pottery Wet drug jar. c.1810.


A rare English pottery 'Mocha' Wet drug jar, c. 1810. The globular jar, with a short stub spout, set upon a spreading foot. Decorated in an overall mocha glaze, having a continuous, moulded reserve, inscribed 'SYR:PAPAVERIS:ERRAT.'. Also applied with a label, detailing 'RED POPPY, P. ERRATICUM, P. RUBRUM. P. RHCEAS.'.
Height - 20.3 cm, 8".
Condition - Some wear to the glaze, & to the overgraze lettering. Otherwise in perfect condition. No restoration.
