Chinese porcelain 'Wucai' charger. Kang Hsi Period.

A good Chinese porcelain charger, c. 1700. Kang Hsi Period. The charger decorated in Wucai enamels, with a central panel of flowerheads, on a leaf scroll ground. The border with further similar decoration.
The reverse with stylised floral scroll, around a large unglazed footrim, which encloses an underglaze blue Mirror - one of the Precious Objests 'Babao'
Pierced at the footrim and fitted with a copper ring for suspension.

Literature: The 'Mirror' represents unbroken conjugal happiness and wards off evil influences.

Medium: Porcelain.

Height:  6 cm, 2.36"

Condition: Typical fritting to the rim of the charger. Otherwise in perfect condition. No restoration.
