Chinese porcelain vase. ‘Mirror Black’ and gilt decoration. 19th Century. Qing Dynasty.


A Chinese porcelain vase, 19th Century, Qing Dynasty. The vase covered in a ‘Mirror Black’ glaze, then with gilt decoration of figures and pavilions, on an island, within a mountainous, river landscape. A further figure of a fisherman rows a boat on the river. Continuous ruyi head, stylised acanthus leaf and floral motif form the borders, with the glaze thinning to brown around the rim of the vase.
Underglaze blue concentric circles to the base, within an unglazed footrim.
Height - 17.5 cm, 6 7/8”.
Condition - Some typical wear to the gilding. No damage. No restoration.
