Chinese porcelain 'Cantonese' soup tureen & cover.


A large Chinese porcelain soup tureen and cover, c. 1860. Decorated in the Cantonese style, with famille rose decoration of panels of figures before pavilions, birds and insects amongst flowering plants. The ground densely decorated with insects flying amongst flowering plants, upon a gilt ground.
The base having double strap twig handles, whilst the cover is surmounted by a large gilt mushroom finial.
Width - 38 cm, 15".
Height - 26 cm, 10 1/4".
Condition - typical minor wear to enamels and the gilding. Otherwise in perfect condition. No damage. No restoration.
