Chinese famille rose teapot. Exotic birds and insects. c. 1740. Qianlong Period.


A Chinese porcelain teapot and cover, c. 1740, Qianlong Period. Finely painted in famille rose enamels, with exotic birds, a butterfly and a cricket, amongst flowering plants. The top of the teapot, enamelled with panels of cell diaper, between stylised flowerheads.
Having a simple loop handle, and short spout. The cover painted with flowering plants, within a pink border. The finial painted with a single flowerhead.
Height - 11 cm, 4 3/8”
Width - 17 cm, 6 5/8”.
Condition - Repair to small chip on spout. Otherwise perfect.
