An exceptionally fine and large Japanese ivory mounted Katana, Meiji Period. The exhibition quality carving presents panels observing scenes of everyday life, divided by borders carved with floral and cloud scroll, with dragons and other Mythical beasts. Having a tsuba carved with Oni and dragons amongst scrolling foliage.
Mounted with twin carved oval hoops for suspension.
Engraved signature to a tablet.
Overall length - 111.5 cm, 43 7/8",
