Ralph Wood Creamware Bacchus Mug, circa 1770


A fine Ralph Wood, Staffordshire creamware mug, circa 1770. The mug taking the form of the head of Bacchus, beneath carefully applied colored glazes. The details are finely defined in this early example, with grapes and vine issuing from the branch handle.
The base typically unglazed.
Measures: Height - 9.8 cm, 3 7/8”.
Width - 12.3 cm, 4 7/8”.
Depth - 7.5 cm, 3”.
Condition - Excellent condition. No restoration.
