Kutani porcelain koro and cover. Meiji Period.

A fine Kutani koro and cover, Meiji Period (1868 – 1912). The archaic form koro being moulded with a continuous lappet motif, having dtylised dragon handles, and standing upon four scroll feet. It is well painted with oval panels of birds before flowering plants, upon a densely decorated ground. The similarly decorated cover being surmounted with a finial formed as a young boy beating a small drum.
Red script signature to unglazed base.
