A Kutani figure group, c. 1890. Modelled as Monju Bosatsu seated upon a Shishi. The Deity holding a scroll and a sheathed katana, finely decorated in typical Kutani enamels, heightened with gilding – the Shishi in green enamel, with gilt whorl decoration, and an elaborate aubergine enamelled tail.
Unglazed base.
