A Chinese bronze figure of Guanyin, 17th Century, Ming Dynasty. The bejewelled deity cast, seated in dhyanasana with her left hand raised in abhayamudra and her right in varadamudra, wearing a headdress and long flowing robes with detailed hems. Traces of original gilt.
Set upon a carved wood stand.
Height of figure – 22 cm, 8 3/4”. With stand – 27.5 cm, 10 7/8”.
Condition – This figure would originally have been gilded. There are traces of the gilding remaining. No damage. No repairs.
