Pair Chinese hardwood figures of boys on oxen. c. 1890.

A good pair of Chinese hardwood figure groups, c. 1890. Well carved as two smiling boys sat upon the backs of recumbent, tethered oxen., their details finely rendered. Both the oxen and the boys have inlaid eyes and bone teeth.
The figures raised upon separate carved wood bases.
Length of figures – 23.5 cm, 9 2/8″
Height – 16 cm, 6 2/8″.
Condition – Chip to tip of one horn. Otherwise in excellent condition. No repairs.
