Minton porcelain scent bottle ‘Essence of Woodbine & Wild Flowers. c.1850.

An exceptionally fine and rare Minton porcelain scent bottle, c. 1850. The cushion shaped bottle, moulded with gilded tassels, and set upon a square base. Hand painted with a panel of spring flowers, and a panel with the gilt inscription ‘Essence of Woodbine and Wild Flowers’. The shaped panels, within elaborate borders of tooled gilt scrollwork, extending to sprays of flowers across the turquoise ground.
The domed stopper, decorated with a heavily tooled gilt crown, within gilt scrollwork.
Marked ‘Minton, Stoke, Potteries’, and ‘Distilled by Witney & Co., Salop’.
Height – 9.5 cm, 3 3/4″.
Width – 13 cm, 5 1/8″.
Condition – Perfect. No damage. No restoration.
