A Chinese Longquan porcelain, celadon dish, c. 1500. Ming Dynasty. The shallow rounded sides rising from a short tapering foot to a broad everted lipped rim, carved to the interior with a foliate medallion encircled by lobes in the well, covered overall in a bluish-green glaze. The interior of the base which has a burnt orange ring, around a celadon glaze roundel.
Diameter – 32 cm, 12 3/4″.
Condition – Typical minor scratches to the glaze, commensurate with the age of the dish. Otherwise in perfect condition. No restoration.
Provenance – ex. Gulbenkian Collection, Durham Museum.
