A fine and large Japanese Arita porcelain koro and cover, Meiji Period (1868 – 1912). The globular body well painted in Imari style, with two large panels of Phoenix flying over flowering plants, amongst rock work and a fence, upon a brocade ground, of panels decorated with various motifs. Having Mythical beast handles. The cover similarly decorated, and having a finial modelled as a cockerel and a hen, in an interesting position….
Height – 13″, 33 cm.
Diameter – 13 1/4″, 33.6 cm.
Condition – Perfect. No damage. No restoration.
