A Satsuma earthenware plate, c. 1900. Meiji Period. Well painted with fan shaped panels decorated with scenes of Samurai, Geisha, river landscapes, birds and insects flying amongst flowering plants. All upon a complex gilt ground, with roundels of dragons and plants.
Gilt Satsuma mark on a black reserve to the base.
Diameter – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8″.
Condition – Some typical, minor wear to the gilt and enamel. Otherwise perfect condition. NO damage. NO restoration.
