Fine pair Staffordshire ‘Italian Greyhounds’ spill vases.

A fine and rare pair of Staffordshire pottery spill vases, c. 1850. Probably made at the Thomas Parr factory. Exceptionally well modelled as a pair of Italian Greyhounds, standing before spill vases, and a fence, upon grassy mound bases.
This is one of the finest quality Staffordshire models of this type ever made. The definition of the heads is particularly fine, as is the detail, such as the curl of the dogs tails around their legs.
Anyone who has the privilege of owning such a dog, will know how they quiver in real life, and the modeller has managed to reflect this in these figures.
Height – 18 cm, 7 1/8″
Length – 16 cm, 6 2/8″.
Condition – Typical minor wear to the enamel. No damage. No restoration.
