A Meissen porcelain figure of the Piping Shepherd, c. 1740. Finely modelled as a man leaning against a large tree stump, and playing a pipe. Wearing Eighteenth Century costume, and carrying a shoulder bag. At his feet, lays his dog, upon a flower strewn mound base.
The unglazed base, with faint traces of a blue mark, and having a blow hole.
Height – 16.2 cm, 6 3/8″.
